MOSCOW. Yesterday, January 20, the Moscow Museum hosted the grand opening of the 2morrow / Tomorrow International Festival of Contemporary Independent Cinema, which included paintings presented at the most prestigious world festivals in 2014. The film forum opened with the film-winner of the Venice festival “The dove sat on a branch, thinking about life” by the Swedish director Roy Andersson.

During 5 festival days, films will be shown participating in the competition programs of festivals in Venice, Berlin, Cannes, Toronto, Locarno, San Sebastian. Some of these films were included in the lists of the best films of 2014, while others were nominated by their countries for an Oscar. In addition to the traditional film forum programs - “Offside”, retrospectives, documentary film programs, “Tomorrow”, viewers will see films from the new sections - “HorrorHumor” and “Time Noise”.

The Noise of Time program is dedicated to historical events. One of the main films of this section is the picture from the Philippine director Love Diaz “From the Previous”, which received the Audience Award at the IFF in São Paulo, the FIPRESCI Prize at the IFF in Locarno, as well as the Golden Leopard and the Don Quixote Prize. The show is expected tomorrow, January 22 at 18:00 at the Center for Documentary Films.

One of the main films of the parallel section “Tomorrow” was the chamber drama of the Spanish director Carlos Market-Marset “10.000 Km”. The film became a laureate in the nominations "Best Film", "Best New Screenwriter", "Best Director", and also received the award of film critics at the Malaga Film Festival. Also, the main competition program is expected to show the film of the young, but already well-established Italian director Alice Rohrvaher "Wonders", who managed to get a number of prizes at last year’s international festivals, including the Grand Prix in Cannes.

As part of the film festival, a 2morrow Filmschool film school was also organized for those who want to learn how to make auteur cinema. The international festival of contemporary independent cinema "2morrow / Tomorrow" is supported by the Department of Culture of Moscow.
