The first premiere of January at the Maly Theater - "The Youth of Louis XIV" Automatic translate
MOSCOW. The first premiere of the Maly Theater was presented to the audience on January 9 in the building of the branch on Ordynka. The new performance, staged by the head of the theater, Yuri Solomin, is called "The Youth of Louis XIV." Its basis was the play of the famous author of historical adventure novels A. Dumas.
Yuri Solomin says that he has long been thinking about staging this play. In it, Dumas the father used interesting historical materials about the events taking place in France during the years when Louis XIV, known as the “King-Sun”, began to rule the country. Louis was young, he wanted entertainment, and the royal court was busy with intrigue. The story described in the play begins with the acquaintance of Louis and Moliere. The future famous writer helps the king figure out a complicated situation.
The main topics covered in the play are issues that are relevant at all times - the attitude of the authorities to art, to writers and artists. If the country has literature, theater, music and painting, it means that there is a nation. Since the original version of the play is large - it consists of five acts, the director was forced to resort to abbreviations of the text. True, he tried to remove only the repetitions, of which there are many in the play.
The production is occupied by the young generation of artists of the Maly Theater, and the leading actors of the troupe. The role of the famous king is played by Mikhail Martyanov. Together with Yuri Solomin, a wonderful team of directors worked on the creation of the performance. The music for the performance was written by the composer G. Gobernik, the lighting design was by D. Ismagilov, the stage designer was A Glazunov, and the costumes for the artists were created by V. Zaitsev. The next premiere will be shown at the branch on Bolshaya Ordynka on January 30th.
