German Documentary Film Festival to be held in Moscow Automatic translate
MOSCOW. The first German documentary film festival BLICK’14 DOC, presented by the Documentary Film Center and the Goethe Institute in Moscow, will be held in the Russian capital from November 13 to 19.
Last year, the Goethe Institute in Moscow hosted the BLICK festival on its own with the goal of introducing metropolitan viewers to intelligent German cinema. This year’s film forum will be directed to a new documentary film and will touch upon relevant topics of modern society, historical events and personal stories. In total, 13 films were selected for showing at the festival, among which there will be retrospectives of the famous German director Uli Gaulke, who will arrive at the event as a special guest.
The festival opens with a screening of the film “Water Wanderings Ulrike Oettinger”, which tells about the cult writer, director and photographer Ulrike Oettinger, who herself will present the picture. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Stefan Weinert will arrive at the festival to present his film “Family”, which tells about the tragic fate of those who died on the death strip of the Berlin Wall.
The premiere of the BLICK’14 DOC festival will be the 3D almanac “Temples of Culture”, which has an impressive list of famous names among the authors of the picture: Margaret Olin, Wim Wenders, Karim Einoz, Michael Glavogger, Michael Mendes, Robert Redford. The film tells about the soul and history of buildings with different appearance and character. At the same time, the picture also traces the plot of the life of people who lived from their ideas of architectural buildings to their embodiment.
The documentary film festival in Germany closes with the film “Don’t Forget Me” directed by David Sieveking, based on the plot of his real story of his relationship with his mother Gretel, suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
The festival program will also include discussions and meetings with directors and other cultural figures from Russia and Germany, and a documentary master class from Uli Gaulke will be held. All films will be shown in the original language with Russian subtitles. Events will be held at the Documentary Film Center in Moscow.
