According to the press service of the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation, this year, at the International Festival of the Art of Cinematographers Plus Camerimage, the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography named after Sergey Gerasimov (VGIK) will present the works of young university students. The festival will be held in Poland from November 15 to 22.
At the 2012 film screening, the cameraman Vadim Yusov received an honorary prize “For the achievements of a lifetime” for his work on Andrei Tarkovsky’s films. This year, VGIK will be represented by two Russian films included in the program of the student study competition - “Tonya Cries on the Bridge of Lovers” directed by Anton Kolomeets, cameraman Yegor Kochubey and “Heir” directed by Ekaterina Kozhakina, cameraman Nikita Rozov.
The thesis by Anton Kolomeets “Tonya is crying on the bridge of lovers” has already managed to participate in the competitive short film program “Moscow Premiere” and “Kinotavr”, and was also presented in the Russian programs of the 36th Moscow International Film Festival and participated in the action “Cinema Train VGIK-95”.
In the course work “The Heir” by Ekaterina Kozhakina, a fourth-year student at VGIK, the story of an elderly couple who goes to the hospital to her only son. The main roles in the film were played by Marina Kaydalova and Sergey Migitsko.
