This year, the All-Russian Festival dedicated to Vasily Shukshin, has been held in Altai since July 22. “Shukshin days in Altai” is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the writer, actor and director, who was born in the Altai village of Srostki. The holiday began with the world premiere of the symphonic suite “Master”. Composer Eduard Artemyev composed this piece of music for the anniversary date. The suite was performed on the stage of the Regional Drama Theater.

The next meeting place for the festival participants was the Altai Regional Library, where on July 23 there was a presentation of the collected works of V. Shukshin, which included 9 volumes of the writer’s heritage. There was also a meeting with writers who arrived on the "Shukshin days." In the evening, the Shukshin Film Festival opened for the 16th time on the stage of the Drama Theater.

In the evening, July 24, the audience met with their compatriot, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Nina Usatova, and in the Philharmonic Hall there was a creative evening of the actor of the Sovremennik Theater, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Sergey Garmash. At the same time, admirers of the master’s talent gathered at the monument to Shukshin for a concert program.

The program was presented to the audience under the name "Says Shukshin." The script of the evening was arranged so that the spirit of the era was clearly present in it. Therefore, during the program, one could hear not only Shukshin’s texts. Poems of Andrei Voznesensky and songs of Vladimir Vysotsky sounded.

V. Shukshin’s birthday, July 25th, was full of events for the participants of the “Shukshin days”. Participants of the festival met with spectators in Biysk, Belokurikha and the villages of Srostka and Smolensk. In the Shukshin Memorial Museum, an exhibition was opened on the last role of the actor. The next day, a festive program will continue in Srostki, led by the famous musician and actor Alexander F. Sklyar.
