The festival of street theaters has opened in St. Petersburg for the fourth time Automatic translate
ST. PETERSBURG. On the evening of May 30, for the fourth time, participants gathered at the Elagin Park international festival, which was attended by street theaters from around the world. The gathering of participants was organized at the Krestovsky Ostrov metro station closest to the park, from where they headed to the square located near the Stables. The grand opening of this unique theater forum, which brought together actors from 14 countries, took place there.
Immediately after the opening, the audience gathered in the square saw the performance “So Far From the Ground…”, shown by Studya33. Then the audience moved to the Big Square, where actors from the Polish theater OsmegoDnia showed a production of “TheArk”.
This performance, existing for more than a dozen years, is the largest of all the productions that arrived at the festival. Its action takes place against the background of a ship’s skeleton, which is forty meters long. Although the performance is of considerable age, it is still relevant and expressive, which was confirmed by the reaction of the audience.
Although the festival was open on Friday evening, and will continue throughout the weekend, some spectators have already managed to join the festival events in advance. Starting from May 25th, a pre-festival week took place, during which the first performances of street musicians and actors could be seen in the park.
There were also master classes in which anyone who was interested in the art of street theater could take part. The luckiest guests of the park could win invitations to festival events, as well as learn in detail what they would see in the festival program.
In total, more than fifty theater groups representing various genres of street art will show their works at the St. Petersburg festival.
