ST. PETERSBURG. A new performance appeared in the BDT’s repertoire poster created within the framework of the “Age of Enlightenment” project by director Evgeny Ibragimov. The performance, dedicated to the outstanding teacher, public figure, doctor and writer Janusz Korczak, got its name from one of the writer’s works - “When I Become Little”, which served as the basis for the production.

The performance also included plots from the fairy tale “King Matiusz” and the story “Glory”. According to the director, Yevgeny Ibragimov, the production team had no desire to create a play about the tragedy that ended the life of a great man. The performance, intended for spectators who come to the theater with the children, should be bright and positive.

However, for the modern world it is especially important that the story of the choice of Janusz Korczak, who went into the gas chamber to die with his children, remains in people’s memory. Natalia Mishina, whose author’s dolls work on stage together with actor Taras Bibich, says that the idea of ​​creating a play based on Korczak’s works was born in Warsaw in 2012, when Poland, together with all of Europe, celebrated seventy years from the day of the writer’s death.

Then the preparation for the performance began. The dolls participating in the play are made with the expectation of a drama artist working with them. Taras Bibich did an excellent job with an unusual work for a dramatic actor.

The artist Emil Kapelyush, who created the original theater space on the stage, and the composer Nikolai Efimov, whose musical design of the performance accompanied the world of memory of the protagonist, helped the actor show the story that tells about childhood memories.

Within the framework of the current project, meetings with schoolchildren are planned dedicated to the work of Janusz Korczak and the personality of the writer.
