The opened festival “The Baltic House is being held this year for the twenty-third time. During this time, thanks to the performances shown during the festivals, Russian theater-goers were able to get acquainted with the work of famous European directors, many of whom brought their work to St. Petersburg this year.

The permanent participant of the festival, the director from Germany, Luc Perceval, brought this year the play “The Brothers Karamazov”. In the director’s reading, the events of the production were told on behalf of Alyosha.

Alvis Hermanis will show the staging Oblomov created by him at the New Riga Theater, where an unusual interpretation of the work is presented. Two groups who came to the festival from Vilnius brought performances based on Gorky’s plays. Oskaras Korshunovas turned to the play “At the Bottom”, seeing it as an association with the current time, and Kirill Glushaev, a student of Rimas Tuminas, decided to show his reading of “Vassa Zheleznova” at the festival.

The festival will host many more interesting meetings with the work of directors from Europe.
