The theater not only carried out building repairs and restoration of premises, but also updated the sound equipment. On the first day of the festival, the actors of the famous “Snuffbox” shone on stage, presenting a performance staged based on Rozov’s play “The Capercaillie’s Nest”. For the audience, what is happening on the stage was a surprise, since the play was peculiar - the spectators see part of what is happening in the performance directly on the stage, and the fact that the actors play behind the scenes is displayed on the screen.

The festival was opened with this performance not by chance. Victor Rozov by birth is a resident of Yaroslavl, and the centenary of the playwright was celebrated recently. For Oleg Tabakov, his plays became the beginning of the acting biography of the director.

In addition to The Snuffbox, the Moscow Art Theater (performance “Kreutzer Sonata”) and “Mayakovka” (“Price”, a play by Arthur Miller) will take part in the festival from the capital’s theaters. In total, twenty performances will be shown during the Volkovsky festival. They will be performed by the teams of the best theaters of the country and guests from abroad. Lithuanian actors brought to the festival a choreographic version of the reading of "Anna Karenina."

Yaroslavl artists will show the performance according to Chekhov - "Untitled", and the premiere work of the theater. Volkova "Orpheus and Eurydice" September 26 will end the festival days.
