NOVOSIBIRSK. An unusual performance was presented on the eve of the holiday by the actors of the Old House Theater. The well-known name of the production, “In Search of Joy,” received the addition in the playbill, “Century XXI.”

The audience saw the play about the life of their contemporaries, but the premiere was based on the works of the playwrights of Alexander Volodin and Victor Rozov, who had long become classics. Without the plays of these authors, it is impossible to imagine the history of the country’s most famous theaters and their great directors - Efremov, Efros, Tovstonogov.

The performance was staged by Galina Pianova, famous in the theatrical world, who created the Almaty theater “ARTiSHOK”, of which she is the director. Galina Pyanova created a festival-performance on the stage of the Old House theater, giving the audience the opportunity to experience the romantic atmosphere of the sixties, interlaced with modern reality and acting fantasies that touch upon eternal themes that are relevant at any time.

The director in his production used three plays at the same time, the characters of which he settled in one communal apartment, organically mixing situations that are included in the plots of these plays. The heroes of Rozov’s play solve the problems raised in Volodin’s plays, and vice versa. However, the director did not set out to arouse nostalgia in the audience, showing the types that were a thing of the past with the sixties.

Galina Pianova, with the help of the actors, is doing everything possible so that today’s spectators, having come to the performance, can see themselves in the characters, help them understand their current problems. The costumes and scenery of the performance are conditional, which further emphasizes that the path to happiness is not easy, no matter how it was presented at different times.

The atmosphere of the performance is complemented by the “Bar Cat” group, performing retro music on stage.
