Opening of a new stage of the Vakhtangov Theater - an exam for his First Studio Automatic translate
MOSCOW. In the old mansion, located on the back of the Vakhtangov Theater building, with the performance “Birds” staged by the young director Mikhail Milkis based on the play by Aristophanes, the Chamber Stage of the Vakhtangov Theater officially opened on March 14th.
The importance of this event is not only in the appearance of a new stage at the theater. This is also a demonstration of the first work, created in just six months by the students, created by the works of the director Rimas Tuminas last September, the First Studio of the Vakhtangov Theater.
Evgeny Vakhtangov himself said that only a combination within the walls of a school, studio and theater can make such a theater timeless, timeless. Rimas Tuminas managed to make Vakhtangov’s dream come true. After the competition held last summer, out of three hundred contestants, 24 people were accepted into the studio, graduates of various theatrical universities of the country.
Now, talented young people have got a stage space where they can experiment, hone their professional skills, implement the most original ideas, while knowing that colleagues will always understand and support you.
The first work presented to the public, was a real test for the students. Among the eleven plays of Aristophanes that have survived to this day, The Birds are still in demand, although the work is more than two millennia old. Mikhail Milkis says that this performance became his free fantasy, written by him based on the play.
Although the performance has something in common with today’s history, however, according to the director, his main theme is not politics, but the desire of a person of infinite power. Live music and poems by Joseph Brodsky sounded from the stage.
The next premiere of the artists of the studio will be held in April.
