Dedication to three composers. Enough space for everyone at Arts Square Automatic translate
ST. PETERSBURG. The XVI winter festival "Square of Arts" has opened. Main theme: anniversaries of Tchaikovsky, Sibelius, Sviridov.
Many people need the help and comfort that Peter Ilyich dreamed of bringing with his music. In each of us lives a child who, on New Year’s Eve, dreams of a miracle. Each of his own, converging in a desire to live in peace and stability. The opening of the festival is like a magic clapperboard, scattering confetti of wonderful melodies and lurking in itself pleasant surprises. The jubilees of three composers at once became the perfect occasion to once again hear your favorite works performed by the best musicians: the 100th anniversary of Georgy Vasilyevich Sviridov, the 150th anniversary of Yan Sibelius and the 175th anniversary of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. At the opening, a monumental and incredibly spectacular concert No. 2 for piano and the Tchaikovsky Orchestra was performed in a virtuoso performance by Yuzh Wang and a symphony orchestra conducted by Yuri Temirkanov. Epic symphony No. 2 of Sibelius, written by him during the period of the highest flowering of his work, sounded by the renowned collective surprisingly fresh and relevant. The anthem of life, interrupted by the dramatic theme of trials, confrontation with inexorable rock, and leading listeners to the full light and hope of a climax.
A significant part of the program is given to sacred music. The Liturgy of Tchaikovsky and Sviridov’s “Songs and Prayers” at a concert held on December 14 in the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ made it possible to fully experience its exalting and spiritualizing power.
Ahead are the performances of the laureates of the competitions, bearing the name of the composers celebrating the anniversary: Lukas Genyushas, Peter Donokhou, Boris Berezovsky, Alexander Gindin, Peter Migunov, Alina Pogostkina. Meetings with great vocalists: The Swingle Singers from the UK, Olga Peretyatko, Eldar Abdrazakov. In addition to the works of honored composers, the music of Rachmaninov, Liszt, Brahms, Mussorgsky will be played.
For two weeks, great music will reign in the St. Petersburg Philharmonic and on other stage venues in the city. And the Akhmatovsky question of whether the one that is called music will save us, the answer is unequivocal and positive.
