Alice spoke in Altai thanks to Cooler Tepukov Automatic translate
LONDON. The book fund of the largest library in the British capital has replenished with a new translation of Carroll’s tale.
Kaykalding Erinde Alisala Bolgon Uchuralldar. The London Library, founded 175 years ago by Thomas Caleil, appears in the collection’s foundation due to the centennial anniversary of the main work of Lewis Carroll. Alice in Wonderland arrived in the translation regiment. Altai version was added to existing 125.
The road to this event was winding. It all started with Victor Fet. A graduate of Novosibirsk University, a scorpion specialist who is currently teaching biology and genetics at Marshall University in West Virginia, not only natural sciences have been close all his life. Polyglot, translator, talented poet, he regularly publishes his works in various magazines and almanacs, including the famous "Literary European".
Multipolarity of interests is a family tradition. Father, Yakov Ilyich Fet, author of numerous works on the history of science and computer science, the creation of artificial intelligence. Uncle, Abram Ilyich Fet, - doctor of sciences, mathematician, philosopher, dissident. He was the first to translate into Russian and publish in Samizdat the well-known books of Karen Horney, Eric Fromm, Eric Berne. Victor is a longtime admirer of Carroll, the author of the first translation of his poem "The Hunt for the Snark."
It was Fet, a connoisseur of Turkic languages, who suggested the writer Kuler Tepukov translate the legendary book into Altai. The famous writer, editor of the children’s magazine "Solon", which celebrated last year’s quarter-century anniversary, worked on the translation for more than six months. Altai "Alice" takes into account the wishes of customers regarding a more adequate translation of some fragments of the tale, taking into account the nuances that were not available in the popular Russian-language version. Part of the copyright “Alice” sent from London will be transferred to the Republican Children’s Library. Cooler Ezendikovich hopes that it will be possible to agree on the sending of additional copies. Tepukov’s plans include the publication of fairy tales in the Altai language and the translation of the best Soviet cartoons into it.
