VOLGOGRAD. The leadership of the Volgograd State Social and Pedagogical University announced the start of the Year of Literature in the Volgograd Region.

According to the administration of the Volgograd region, the program of the Year of Literature in the region opened with the ceremony of awarding the winners of the State Prize of the Volgograd Region in the field of literature, cultural and educational activities, art and architecture. Leading figures of the region received awards of three degrees in the nominations “Literature”, “Architecture”, “Visual Arts”, “Theater Art”, “Musical Art” and “Cultural and Educational Activities”.

After the guests and participants of the event, the professor of the Department of Literature of the Volgograd State Social and Pedagogical University gave a public lecture "Russian Literature and Folklore." Further, as part of the festival, meetings were organized with Volgograd writers, presentations of electronic books from the Presidential Library and an autograph session with award winners and leading cultural figures of the region. “Russian language and literature is the foundation of our state. During the year, residents of the region will find many interesting events, both in culture and in the education sector, ”said Victor Gepfner, chairman of the regional culture committee.

Victor Gepfner also said that as part of the implementation of the action plan dedicated to the Year of Literature in the Volgograd Region, the organizers have planned a lot of bright creative, cultural and educational projects, the main purpose of which is to remind that literature has exceptional significance and has a special mission in society. Volgograd writers, researchers from regional universities and library leaders will help in organizing various projects for young people, students and just lovers of the Russian language.
