MOSCOW. A long list of nominees for the literary prize named after Alexander Pyatigorsky, awarded for the best philosophical work, has recently appeared on the official website of the award.
The Prize Organizing Committee nominated 37 essays, including translations, collections of essays and novels. The list of applicants for the award includes both completely new names in the literature and recognized authors. For example, among the contestants, the famous Victor Pelevin with the novel “Batman-Apollo”, or, conversely, is still unknown to anyone, but a very promising author, Yuri Arabov with the work “Collision with a Butterfly”. Literary critics also noted the writer Maria Rybakova, who got into the long list of the prize, with the book “A Man’s Draft”.
In the second season of the literary prize to them. A. Pyatigorsky prize fund will be 2 million rubles - this amount includes the prize fund of the last season, since in May 2014 the prize was not awarded to any of the contestants.
A short list of nominees to be announced in February 2015 will be determined by a competent jury of ten, chaired by a doctor of art history, philosopher Oleg Genisaretsky. It is worth noting that the Prize Chair began its work this year, which is a voluntary association of jury members and the supervisory board, prize winners of all seasons, as well as founders and invited guests, with the aim of discussing the fundamental and demanding issues of the prize, as well as maintaining its search status.
