Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts A.S. Pushkin will hold exhibitions at the sites of the Russian Post Automatic translate
The Russian Post and the State Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts signed a cooperation agreement on February 3, 2021. Its goal is to popularize art and develop the cultural environment throughout Russia through joint projects - exhibitions that will be held at the sites of the Russian Post, seminars, round tables and conferences.
The first pilot project may be an exhibition at the Main Post Office of Yekaterinburg as part of the VI Ural Industrial Biennale of Contemporary Art, which will be held in the fall of 2021.
“We hope that this agreement will lead us to a close partnership that is important not only for us, but also for the society for which we work. The spaces of the Russian Post, which people associate with information, can now be transformed into spaces for art and creativity. It seems to me very important that our first joint project will be held within the framework of the Ural Biennale, which is included in the top 10 of the world’s major biennials and the only domestic one, which will be held this fall in Yekaterinburg. It is difficult even to imagine how much we can do together, given the prevalence of the Russian Post in the vastness of our homeland, "- said the director of the Pushkin Museum. A.S. Pushkina Marina Loshak.
“The main post offices are often historical buildings, large, with wide halls. These spaces are sometimes works of art in themselves. For example, the post office in Yekaterinburg, where the first exhibition in the framework of our cooperation with the Pushkin Museum will take place, is a vivid example of constructivism of the 30s. Now we are moving towards, firstly, to return these monuments in a dignified form to the collections of the country’s landmarks, and secondly, to breathe new life into them and fit them into the urban context. Therefore, we appreciate the help of museums, student communities, and creative teams, ”said Maxim Akimov, General Director of the Russian Post.
In the future, the Russian Post and the State Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts are planning to implement projects in other regions of Russia. The agreement is valid until 2023.
