Ulyanovsk. The Museum of Folk Art will celebrate its anniversary on December 2. It has been 25 years since the beginning of its work. Although more than a month is left before the holiday, the museum staff decided to remind their guests about the time when the collection of paintings, where today there are more than a thousand works, has just begun to take shape.
To this end, a new exhibition has been opened, presented to visitors to the museum under the name “Unusual Masterpieces”. The hall contains thirty works created by Ulyanovsk artists. All these works were donated by the authors to the museum at its foundation. These paintings became the beginning of the museum collection. The first donated work was the painting "At the Spring", painted by V. Vlasov.
Museum employees consider the work of V. Vlasov one of the most important exhibits of the museum collection, since the history of the museum was started from it. Next to it were paintings by N. Egorov (“Over Tea”), V. Basalaev (“Bullfinches”), V. Vasiliev (“Seascape”), Yu. Konoplev (“In the Village”) and other artists of Ulyanovsk.
Included in the exposition are paintings donated by artists to the 20th anniversary of the museum. These are canvases written by Yaroslavl artist German Blinov and Nizhny Novgorod artist Nadezhda Spirina. The painting is complemented by painted wooden products made by the masters of the Kuzovatovsky industrial plant.
For the anniversary, the employees of the Museum of Folk Art prepared many more surprises for their visitors. An important event in museum life will be the opening of an exhibition of the works of Natalia and Sergey Kvach. The creative duo will present their work with an exhibition entitled “Three Roads in Art”. The exhibition will include paintings and graphic works, as well as works of the genre of decorative and applied art.
