During the festival, the gallery will continue to host an exhibition of one masterpiece, which arrived from the Hermitage in May. The Resurrection of Christ icon painted by Yamashita Rin, the first Japanese icon painter, was gifted to Nicholas II when he traveled to Japan. This exhibition, where you can see five more icons by Yamashita Rin, is open until the end of the festival, on October 2.
The opening ceremony also included a presentation within the framework of the project “Let’s Preserve the Cultural Heritage Together”, a master class program on the methods of restoration and conservation of graphic works. Then, in the Hermitage Lecture program, Tatyana Sabyanina, head of the restoration laboratory of the Hermitage, spoke about her work. The story was accompanied by a video screen and a multimedia presentation.
After the lecture, the participants of the festival program got acquainted with the theoretical part of the restoration master class. During the festival, meetings will be held with M. Piotrovsky, director of the Hermitage. He will present the author’s program “On the Hermitage with Love”.
