Art Russe Foundation supported the exhibition of Helium Korzhev in the Tretyakov Gallery Automatic translate
At the State Tretyakov Gallery, the first large-scale exhibition of Helium Korzhev began to work. The Art Russe Foundation has become one of the partners of the Tretyakov Gallery in holding an exhibition of the artist named the last great Russian realist of the 20th century. In two halls of the museum on Krymsky Val, visitors will be able to see 120 paintings and 30 graphic works that reflect the entire career of the master - from 1943 to 2011.
Helium Korzhev is one of the prominent figures in Russian art. Powerfully and vividly showing himself in the late 1950s, Korzhev became one of the leaders of the legendary sixties, remained one of the most famous artists of the 60-80s, worked as the first secretary of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR. However, in the last decades of his life, the artist, who had a strong and independent character, went into voluntary retreat and was almost unknown to several generations of spectators and professionals. The exhibition will open for contemporaries the incredible world of images of Helium Korzhev and enrich the idea of art of the second half of the twentieth century.
Korzhev very accurately reflected the time that he lived with the whole country, so in his work we find the most difficult and painful topics: the tragedy of the Great Patriotic War, tectonic breaks of social and political reality at the end of the century, disappointment and loneliness, the drama of life and the unknown what awaits a man beyond her bounds. The exhibition presents all the main lines of the master’s heritage.
“We are pleased to be involved in such a significant project, which, undoubtedly, will be the exhibition of this outstanding Russian artist of the second half of the twentieth century. For the Art Russe Foundation, this is a continuation of a long-term cooperation with one of the best museums of Russian art, which began five years ago with the holding of a match for the world chess crown in the Tretyakov Gallery and supporting the exhibition of Nikolai Feshin. For all of us, this project is a new step in popularizing Russian art and returning the names of brilliant masters of the Russian art school to the public, ”says Andrei Filatov, founder of the Art Russe foundation.
The works of Helium Korzhev also occupy an important place in the collection of Art Russe, invariably attracting the attention of viewers during the exhibitions organized by the foundation. Today, the collection of the fund contains six works by the artist. Three of them - “Deserter”, “Laundress” and “Meeting” - participated in the last expositions held by the foundation, - the exhibition “The Legacy of World War II in Russian Art” in the Saatchi Gallery (London) and the first exhibition in the Middle East “Collection of Russian and 20th-century Soviet art, Art Russe: War and Peace ”(Abu Dhabi).
