MOSCOW. The exposition of the exhibition “VDNKh Artists”, which opened on December 10 at the Central pavilion of the exhibition complex, will be interesting to all visitors who want to see the history of the development of the “main exhibition of the country”. The territory of the exhibition complex began to be actively built up since 1935.
The best Russian architects, painters and sculptors of that time participated in the design of exhibition pavilions completed over 20 years. The exhibition organizers combined in the exhibition space the works created by masters directly for the design of VDNH.
The exposition also included sketches of these works, as well as other works of artists who participated in the decoration of the exhibition pavilions. When selecting works for placement in the exhibition, preference was given to works made in the style characteristic of each artist.
Among the works included in the exhibition are sketches created by Alexander Labas, intended for the dioramas of the Main Pavilion. They feature landscapes of the Soviet republics. No less interesting are the sketches belonging to Vladimir Favorsky. They depict horses of different breeds and were intended for painting in the Veterinary Pavilion. To this day, this pavilion has not been preserved.
There was a place in the exposition and the works of Alexander Deineka, Alexander Samokhvalov, Evgeny Vuchetich and other masters who participated in the design of VDNH. One of the high reliefs, made by Vuchetich, was found during the repair of the Central Pavilion. After restoration, he will also take a place at the exhibition.
The exhibition also includes a media library, which stores a significant amount of information about lost works that previously adorned the pavilions of VDNH.
The exhibition runs until March 13.
