An exhibition of creativity by the Kostroma artist Oleg Shelkov is open in the art gallery of Kostroma Automatic translate
KOSTROMA. The city art gallery honored the memory of the artist Oleg Shelkov, opening on November 21 an exhibition of his work dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the Kostroma painter and graphic artist. The exposition of the exhibition, presented under the title “In Search of Harmony”, is composed of the creative heritage of the artist, owned by the family of Oleg Shelkov.
The heirs kindly provided a significant part of the works of Oleg Dmitrievich carefully preserved from them for the creation of the exhibition. In total, 18 graphic and 49 paintings by the artist were selected for display at the exhibition, starting in 1960. However, most of the exposition was occupied by works created after Oleg Dmitrievich retired, when he was able to devote more time to his work.
Oleg Shelkov received his professional education in Ivanovo, where he studied painting at an art school. Since 1961, he lived in Kostroma, where he worked at the Art Fund. Although Oleg Dmitrievich was not a member of the Union of Artists, he took an active part in exhibitions at various levels. In 1977, he presented a large solo exhibition held in the art gallery of Kostroma.
The works of Oleg Shelkov were also shown by the Perpetuum Art Gallery and the Autograph Exhibition Hall. There was a place for the artist’s works at other exhibition venues in the city. Oleg Dmitrievich created wonderful portraits and still lifes, however, rural and city landscapes were favorite themes of his works.
When creating genre paintings, he often used Greek myths and biblical subjects. His painting "The Last Supper", written in 1994, was included in the catalog of the exhibition dedicated to the 2000th Christianity. For the exhibition “In Search of Harmony”, open until December 12, a catalog has also been released.
