MOSCOW. The staff of the Pushkin Museum. Pushkin regularly show their guests exhibitions where works of art that have replenished museum funds are displayed. They become a kind of report telling about the work done by the museum. From September 18, museum visitors can get acquainted with the graphic works acquired by the Pushkin Museum over the past five years, starting in 2009.
To accommodate the exhibition, which includes more than two hundred unique graphic works, two floors are reserved for the Department of personal collections. Four halls located on the ground floor of the building were occupied by the work of artists belonging to the Western European school. For the convenience of visitors, they were divided into eras. In the fifth hall, located nearby, museum guests will see the schedule of masters of Japan and China.
Here you can see little-known works of artists from Holland, France, Germany and other countries of Western Europe. Connoisseurs of graphic art will be introduced to new works dating back to the 16th century. These are engravings by Etienne Delon, as well as a graphic sheet made by Jean Mignon. The main part of the works included in this section was received by the museum fund from collector Yu. Palinov.
The collection of oriental graphics was replenished with a unique triptych - an engraving by the Japanese master Kitagawa Utamaro. Due to its content, based on real facts, the print run of the engraving was destroyed along with the whiteboards. Rare specimens have survived to this day.
On the second floor, visitors will have to get acquainted with drawings and prints, sponsored by Russian artists. The most notable acquisitions of the museum in this section were watercolor works by N. N. Kupreyanov and engravings by Oleg Kudryashov.
