ST. PETERSBURG. On May 28, the Russian Museum in the exhibition space of Mikhailovsky Castle presented a new exhibition - “Fidelity to Tradition”. Her exposition presents works by the best artists of St. Petersburg, owned by the famous philanthropist Valery Pustarnakov.
Valery Pustarnakov collected his collection for many years. The works acquired by the philanthropist for his collection have different execution times, their authors have different stylistic styles, work in different genres. The main criterion for selecting works in the collection for Valery Pustarnakova was the fidelity of the authors of works of realistic tradition. In total, the collection of the collector totals about four hundred works of artists of St. Petersburg, made since 1940.
The exposition includes the works of eighteen Petersburg artists. Not only the collector himself participated in their selection for the exhibition, but also the leading specialists of the Russian Museum. Among the works selected for the exhibition, museum visitors will see etudes and paintings, works made using pastel technique. A significant part of these works is landscapes, which capture the views of St. Petersburg and its suburbs, as well as the nature of the corners of the Russian North.
Near the landscapes there were small genre compositions, portraits and still lifes. Their authors are masters, whose names are the pride of the art world of St. Petersburg. Some have already passed away, and from the living they expect new masterpieces. Residents of several Russian cities managed to see this project. Now you can get acquainted with the exhibition in one of the most famous museums in the country. A wonderful catalog was published especially for the opening of the exhibition in Italy.
The exhibition is open on July 20.
