BARNAUL. The Art Museum of the Altai Territory, thanks to a special project developed by its employees, constantly shows the work of famous masters who began their career in the Altai Territory. The name of the project is fully consistent with its content. It provides an opportunity to meet with famous artists in Altai.

As part of the project, on June 5, a new exposition of this exhibition cycle was opened - “Landscape of Altai Yuri Kapustin”. The opening of the solo exhibition of the artist, born in Altai, is timed to coincide with his eightieth birthday. Yuri Nikolaevich presents his work in the halls of the museum for the fourth time. The previous exhibition was held in 2010.

After each of the exhibitions, some of the artist’s works are stored in museum funds. Now in the collection of the art museum there are 77 works by Yuri Kapustin. Of these, 20 works Yuri Nikolaevich presented to the museum as a gift. The main part of the opening exhibition is paintings that reflect the beauty of Altai landscapes.

With painting began his career. After graduating from art school in Irkutsk, Yuri Kapustin worked in Barnaul from 1963. He was a teacher in the art studio, an artist in the Youth Theater, painted landscapes. Then he became interested in ceramics and, at the same time, began to study the history of Altai. These hobbies significantly influenced the themes of the artist’s work.

Since 1972, Yuri Kapustin lives in Moscow. Having become a professional ceramic artist, creates original ceramic compositions. His work was awarded prestigious professional awards, and the Altai Territory Administration awarded Yuri Nikolaevich an honorary medal - "For Services to the Society."

The exposition "Landscape of Altai Yuri Kapustin" awaits guests until July 5th.
