TVER. The Museum and Exhibition Center of Tver offers an introduction to the project "They Fought for their Homeland", which presents the work of the famous portrait master, People’s Artist of the USSR Shilov Alexander Maksovich. The project, initiated by the A. Shilov Art Gallery, found support from the Moscow government and President V. Putin.
A traveling exhibition, entitled "They Fought for their Homeland," was included in the number of events dedicated to the anniversary Victory Day. This exposition has already visited several Russian hero cities. The exhibition was also hosted by cities marked with the sign of Military Glory. In Tver, the paintings of A. Shilov can be seen until April 19, and then the exhibition will be presented to residents of Sevastopol.
The artist began to create a portrait gallery of war heroes as a student. Shilov found characters of his paintings in different ways. His acquaintances told about some, many were met by the artist at the Victory Parades, where Alexander Maksovich comes every year. To date, a series of works dedicated to our contemporaries, who have become a legend, has more than 40 portraits. The exposition of the exhibition opened in Tver included 31 paintings.
The artist himself relates his portraits to the historical genre, showing the faces of history. Each of the portraits of veterans, painted by Alexander Shilov, is the embodiment of the best features inherent in people who brought the country victory in the Patriotic War. Their faces are the personification of courage, nobility and patriotism.
In addition to portraits of veterans, among which there are many images of famous figures of Russian culture who participated in the hostilities, the exhibition includes ostro-social paintings. They reflect current problems in today’s Russia.
