City Lines by artist Andrei Bodrov at an exhibition at the Hermitage-Kazan Center Automatic translate
KAZAN. The Hermitage-Kazan Center is waiting for fans of graphic art at the exhibition City Lines. Under this name, artist Andrei Bodrov opened an exhibition of his work. In her exposition, he included more than one hundred works that used a variety of graphic techniques.
Without a professional education, the artist is fluent in the most sophisticated techniques, skillfully creating pastel works, monotypes, but most often performs graphics in a technique called the “dry needle”. This is one of the most sophisticated techniques used in graphic work.
When using this technique, the artist does not have the opportunity to correct errors. Any line drawn on the base must be done the first time, in one movement of the hand. The basis is a copper plate, where an image is engraved using a needle made of durable steel. Then paint is printed on the plate, and on the machine the image is copied onto paper.
Using the features of pastels, the artist receives works with a delicate, as if melting texture, surface of the picture. Most often, Andrei Bodrov chooses landscapes of cities and streets for the plots of his graphic sheets. The artist says that in any city he travels a lot on the streets on foot, and sketches the places he likes in a notebook. Thus new works are born.
A year and a half ago, Andrei Bodrov was already showing his work in Kazan. Then they were presented in the Gallery of Modern Art. During the time that has passed since that exhibition, the talented artist managed to create new, no less brilliant works. Among them is a series of works dedicated to the Kazan Kremlin. In each of them, the artist showed familiar views in new perspectives.
The exhibition "City Lines" is available for acquaintance on April 15th.
