SIMFEROPOL. For the first time, the City Art Museum hosts an exhibition of paintings and drawings, the exposition of which is composed of works made by teachers and students of the capital’s Watercolor Academy. The opening of the exhibition took place on January 29, in the presence of the rector of the Academy Sergey Andriyaka.
Sergey Andriyaka today is one of the most prominent masters of watercolor painting, although his creative work began with oil, tempera, and gouache. There were stages in his work dedicated to work on stained-glass windows, mosaics, etchings. The artist was also engaged in painting porcelain and enamel.
For the exhibition, the artist selected 35 watercolors, including 17 in large format. Among large-format works, you can see the painting "White Chrysanthemums and Porcelain", painted by Sergey Andriyaki in 2005. Its size is 1, 2 x 1, 65 meters, which is extremely rare in watercolors.
In total, the exhibition housed more than one hundred works representing a variety of pictorial techniques and trends. It is worth noting that the rector of the Academy this time brought the work of not only experienced watercolor artists, but also aspiring artists. The exhibition presents the best works of students studying in the 1st and 2nd courses of the Academy of Watercolor.
Of the students’ works, the educational and methodical part of the exhibition was compiled. This section of the exhibition will enable viewers to get acquainted with the stages of the educational process at the Academy. The exposition is supplemented by video materials telling about the work of the Watercolor Academy, as well as recordings of workshops from S. Andriyaka.
Everyone who is interested in painting has the opportunity on February 6 to attend a master class, which will be held personally by Sergey Andriyaka. He will fly to Crimea specifically for this event.
