"There is a dream like vision .." - an anniversary exhibition of the genius of the sixties, the artist Vladimir Yakovlev Automatic translate
MOSCOW. “There is a dream like vision…” - under this name, in the Art Museum located on the old Ostozhenka Street, on December 3, a personal exhibition of Vladimir Yakovlev, the most prominent representative of the unofficial part of Soviet art, was opened. His personality of style originates from the works of Picasso seen by the artist. The exhibition of the famous Spaniard was held in the late 50s, in the hall of the Pushkin Museum im. Pushkin.
One of Picasso’s works, known as “The Cat Grabbing a Bird”, made Yakovlev such an impression that this motif appeared in his works. A cat with a bird began to be often present in the works of Vasily Yakovlev. The organizers of the exhibition gathered to create an exposition of about eighty works completed over four decades.
Artworks are supplemented by photographs and documents provided by the artist’s foundation. In the near future, the exposition will be supplemented by the work of Picasso, who became an idol for Vladimir Yakovlev. He will be delivered to the Art Museum from the Paris collection of works by Picasso. Parisians provided work with a plot similar to that shown in the capital fifty years ago - “The Cat Devouring a Rooster”. The organizers of the exhibition specially left free space for her.
Vladimir Yakovlev did not have a vocational education, the peak of his career was the position of retoucher. However, his work already in the 60s attracted famous collectors. After the death of his parents for 15 years, his place of residence became a neuropsychiatric boarding school. In the late 80s, a documentary was shot about the artist. It is amazing that in the late seventies, the artist, having practically lost his sight, continued to create new works.
The exhibition, as well as the album of works by the artist released to it, is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Vladimir Yakovlev.
