"Severe tenderness of watercolors" - exhibition of A. Kashtanov in the museum of Petrozavodsk Automatic translate
PETROZAVODSK. On October 10, the Museum of Fine Arts of Karelia presented to the public the exhibition "The Severe Tenderness of Watercolor", representing the work of Alexander Kashtanov, Honored Artist of Russia. Visitors to the exhibition will see more than fifty of the best watercolors owned by Alexander Ivanovich. To create an exposition, the works were provided by the museum and the artist himself from his personal collection.
The opening of this exhibition, Alexander Kashtanov celebrates its 85th anniversary. The artist’s creative biography began with studies at the Penza art school, however, after being drafted into the army, he was sent to the Kharkov Border College. Following its completion, a twenty-year service in the border troops followed.
Years of service took place in the eastern and western regions of the country, Alexander Ivanovich also visited Karelia, where nature itself inspired the artist to create new works. In his travels along the borders of the country, he was constantly engaged in creativity, managing in his free time not only to paint watercolors, but also to show them at exhibitions in the regions where the artist served.
Only after demobilization in 1972, the artist was able to fully devote his life to creativity. Kashtanov not only participates in exhibitions where his watercolors deserve high awards, but also engages in educational work. Taking part in the creative project “Russian North”, the artist became the creator of the project “My Border”, the participants of which devote their work to the subject of service at the border.
The age of the artist does not prevent him from participating in open air, organizing new exhibition projects. He is full of energy and tremendously hardworking. The watercolor works of the artist, ageless soul, can be seen until November 9th.
