MOSCOW. The Tretyakov Gallery continues acquaintance with the work of outstanding artists who played an important role in the development of Russian art in the 19-20th centuries. In the halls located on Krymsky Val, a grand exhibition project dedicated to the works of Alexander Golovin, a prominent artist who worked during the Silver Age, will be presented to the public from March 28.

Many famous museums participated in the creation of the project. Some of the exhibits for the exhibition came from private collections. This made it possible for the staff of the Tretyakov Gallery to show the public the legacy of Alexander Yakovlevich Golovin in all the variety of techniques in which the master worked.

The exhibition project contains about 300 works - paintings and graphic works, sketches of theatrical scenery and costumes, stage costumes sewn according to the artist’s drawings, as well as works of decorative art. From the collection of the Alexandrinsky Theater, the exhibition received costumes for the Meyerhold "Masquerade", staged by the director in 1917. These costumes were considered lost for many years, now they will be shown for the first time in the capital.

The main exhibition space is reserved for painting, graphics and works made for the theater. These works of Alexander Golovin, placed in a single exhibition, clearly show how blurred the boundaries between the various activities of the artist. When comparing the landscapes and scenery of the performances, it is clear that the visual techniques and motives in both cases have similarities.

For the opening of the exhibition, whose work will continue until the end of August, an album has been prepared, which is a complete catalog of the artist’s works. It includes articles that better understand aspects of A. Golovin’s work.
