Plots of paintings have long become familiar, but a special approach to the technique of their execution turns even harmless animals into strange monsters. The gloomy color of the canvases covered with a thick layer of varnish, in some places the images are blocked by splashes of dark paint, facial features seem to flow down the canvas.

Characters remain somewhere inside, only partially appearing in the zone of visibility. The bear is covered with real fur, on the surface of the stream covered with varnish, you can notice insects that add authenticity to the landscape. The way this painting is done is called mastering, appropriation.

This series of works is a logical continuation of the exhibition “Twilight Consciousness”, not so long ago presented by Peter Shvetsov in the exhibition space of the same gallery. The artist is a native of St. Petersburg, studied at the Secondary Art School, which operates at the Academy of Arts. Then he worked in several European countries.

Pyotr Shvetsov’s creative baggage contains both flamboyant projects and exhibitions, where the artist displays surprisingly thin paintings.
