MOSCOW. The gallery “Our Artists”, which recently changed its location, having moved from the village of Borki, located on the Rublevo-Uspensky highway, to the central part of the capital, opens on May 23 the exhibition “100 works of Alexandre Benois”. The last large-scale exhibition of works by Alexander Benois was organized at the Tretyakov Gallery.

Forty years have passed since this event, but since then the connoisseurs of painting have not been able to see the artist’s work in such numbers, although Benoit’s drawings constantly appear at prestigious large auctions. The organizers of the exhibition exposition did a lot of work so that the visitors of the Our Artists gallery, now housed in Sechenovsky Lane, could see not only the famous works of Alexandre Benois, but also that they had not exhibited before.

Many of the paintings were created during the life of the artist in exile and are events reflected in paintings by the family of Benoit. Most of the exposition of the exhibition is composed of works of various subjects and technical performance.

The gallery’s exhibition space housed sketches made by Benoit for the famous performances staged by Diaghilev. The illustrations are presented, created for the famous edition of Knebel "Pictures on Russian History", illustrations for the famous Pushkin’s work "The Bronze Horseman". At the exhibition, you can also see sketches for the five letters from the Alphabet in Pictures created by Benoit himself, as well as paintings from the series dedicated to Louis XIV.

In addition, the exhibition found a place for landscapes - Russian and foreign. The works that made up the exhibition were presented by private collectors. You can get acquainted with the work of Benoit until July 21st.
