"Images of Italy" in the Tsereteli Gallery - the art of painting and graphics of the 18-20th century Automatic translate
MOSCOW. On April 17, in the halls of the Zurab Tsereteli Gallery, an exhibition called “Images of Italy” was opened for visitors, the exhibition of which includes works by famous Russian artists created during trips with Italy for almost three centuries. The earliest works presented at the exhibition were created in the 18th century. In the halls of the Gallery housed artwork made in various genres - from paintings to graphics.
Opening the exhibition, the vice-president of the Academy of Arts Dmitry Shvidkovsky reminded those present about the enormous role of Peter the Great in the development of painting and architecture in Russia. It was the great reformer who sent the first Russian artists to Italy to study. The best graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts lived for a long time in Italian cities, where they improved their skills, working on sketches, making sketches and copies of the works of famous painters. Regular reports were sent on the work done.
The main task set for retirees (the so-called artists who received support from the treasury) was to create exact copies of the works of the great Renaissance artists. Particular attention was paid to the works of Raphael. Also, many copies were made from the works of artists belonging to the Bologna school.
At the end of the training program, a reporting picture was provided to the Academy Council. Many of these works became the basis of the Academy’s museum collection. The canvases were made with the highest level of craftsmanship, they served as the models by which students of the Academy studied the art of painting.
These works constituted the exposition of the “Images of Italy” exhibition. By visiting the exhibition, open until May 26, you can admire the unique landscapes of Italian cities
