The national artist discovered the beauty of the ancient city in the middle of the last century. He painted large canvases depicting landscapes and monuments of Tobolsk, now stored in the funds of the museum named after him. The museum’s collection also contains 19 pencil sketches made by Belov during his first trip.

If we compare the sketches written by Belousov and Zolnikov during their autumn plein air, the connection of times is clearly traced - on the works of our contemporaries, the images of the same places that were written more than half a century ago, only this is the work of artists of a different generation.
