Arkhangelsk in the middle of the last century at the exhibition of painter German Kononov Automatic translate
ARKHANGELSK. On January 25, an exhibition is opened in the exhibition hall located in the Manor House of E.K. Plotnikova for those art lovers who want to see how Arkhangelsk looked in the middle of the last century.
The exhibition of the artist German Kononov, which became part of the museum project "Arkhangelsk Atlantis", designed for a long existence, was called "Arkhangelsk German Kononov." The exposition of the exhibition became an expression of the artist’s love for his native city, with which he connected his fate and work.
Born in Arkhangelsk, the artist, whose ancestors belonged to the ancient Pomeranian family, treated the city and its inhabitants with great love. This becomes clear at first glance at his paintings, the main theme of which was city landscapes, airy, full of love for even its smallest streets.
Many paintings and graphic works by German Kononov are dedicated to Dvina. Canvases with her image were painted at all times of the year, in sunny weather and with the sky covered with autumn clouds. City landscapes of Arkhangelsk are also painted at different times of the year.
Today’s exhibition of works by German Kononov in the "Plotnikova House" is not the first. Here in 2000, the city’s residents were shown graphic works by the artist, and his centenary was marked by an exhibition held in 2005. The opened exhibition, which will be available for visiting until the last days of March, will become even more interesting, since its exposition not only included the artist’s work, but also recreated the corners of his house.
This allows visitors to the exhibition an even greater immersion in the inner world of the painter. Most of the works of German Kononov belongs to his family and will return to his home after the exhibition.
