The Art Museum of the city of Kurgan has provided a hall for the anniversary exhibition of the honored Russian painter Igor Schetinin, who celebrates his sixtieth birthday this year. At the opening of the exhibition was attended by a large group of guests who came to greet the hero of the day from Tyumen. The interest of the Tyumen people in the exhibition is quite understandable - Igor Shchetinin has been a teacher of the art faculty of the University of Tyumen for several years.
At the exhibition you can see the works of Schetinin himself, paintings of the artist’s wife, Hope, are added to them. A separate part of the exhibition were works made by students of the Tyumen University, students of Shchetinin. Students’ works are represented by sketches for diplomas and theses themselves, as well as sketches written during trips to St. Petersburg and Tobolsk. The students’s creativity shows a clear influence of their teacher, but among them there are quite independent works.
Igor Shchetinin presented his work with paintings and watercolors, most of which are known to connoisseurs of painting. This is a series of works by the artist, written by him in different years under the influence of trips around the country - “Waterfalls”, “Baikal”, “Karlag” and others. Many of the artist’s paintings came to the exhibition from the personal collections of admirers of his work, from works that are constantly in the premises of the city administration, its educational institutions.
Shchetinin received his art education at the Omsk Pedagogical Institute, where he studied at the art faculty, graduated with honors and received a distribution in Kurgan. In his speech at the exhibition, the artist said that each display of his work to the public, he considers for himself a huge holiday, completing a certain stage of his career.
