Description of Claude Monet’s painting In the Garden

That is why he had so many landscapes created at different times of the year in the same corners of the garden. From the painter’s perceptive eye could not escape such nuances as the change of one flowering plants by another, the fading of beds and leaves on trees. That’s why Claude Monet couldn’t imagine himself without working in the open air. That’s how the artist got his own garden.

In most paintings, painted in nature, the main heroines are the ladies. Apparently, the artist compared the grace of women to the beauty of flowers. So in the painting "In the garden" we can see two women or girls who are busy reading aloud.

One of them is holding a book, the other is looking intently at her mate, as if listening to her. Both ladies are wearing long beautiful dresses. Their hair is neatly styled, and their huge crinoline skirts rest carelessly on the grass. Next to the ladies is a clump of bushes with dark red flowers. Ahead of them are bushes too, but lower in height. They are literally laden with flowers and buds, but among them you can already see the yellowing leaves.

The leaves of the trees are also turning yellow. A lush yellowish crown, in which the leaves of the acacia tree can be seen, is adorned, like a mossy hat, on a thin, shiny trunk. The graceful birch with such a graceful curve of the trunk is covered with gold coins of leaves. Next to it is a small tree with gray foliage. You can see that it is the end of summer, and the girls do not want to miss these wonderful days. So they spend them reading in the garden.

There is a path around the clearing where the ladies are nestled, and in the way it is spelled out, the way the grass slopes around it, one feels some kind of circular motion. Who knows, maybe it’s a symbol of the changing of the seasons, so annoyingly reminded of by the signs of the coming autumn. The green colors of summer can be seen here only on the lawn itself, while the leaves on most of the trees are old, bluish, almost gray. It seems that it, too, will start to turn yellow and crumble in the near future.
