Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Andrei Viktorovich Volkov (born 1948) is a famous Russian artist whose work is devoted to the study of urban space, mainly Moscow. More than 20 works of the author, presented in the exhibition, continue this theme, opening unexpected facets in it. Along with the completely new motifs found in our day, Volkov uses his old paintings and author’s photos as an impulse for new works. Plots are often repeated, but are subject to rethinking. Among the important for the artist, for a long time disturbing his plastic themes are the problematics of the ratio of light, color and texture.
