Igor Dryomin: "Cubofuturism. Back to the Future" by Vasily Krotkov Automatic translate
Having come to art as a mature and established person, Vasily Krotkov quickly found his artistic language. Inheriting the traditions of Russian avant-garde of the early twentieth century, he creatively reinterprets and develops the direction of cubofuturism.
Having arisen in the 1910s and existed for a very short period of time, Russian cubofuturism sought to combine the principles of cubism (decomposition of an object into component structures, geometrization of shapes, plane shift) and futurism (development of an object in the "fourth dimension", that is, in time).
Bright representatives of the new aesthetics were Kazimir Malevich, David Burliuk, Ivan Klyun, Alexandra Exter, Natalya Goncharova, Nadezhda Udaltsova, Lyubov Popova, Aristarkh Lentulov and others.
Vasily Krotkov sees his goal and mission in the revival of Russian cubofuturism as a universal and relevant way of understanding the world.
“Laying out the universe on a plane and prisms, I try to find new meanings in familiar things, learn more about the environment than is apparent at first glance. In other words, trying to get to the bottom of it. After all, first of all, my work for me is an attempt to understand the world. This activity was very exciting, and I do not leave hope to share it with my audience. ” /AT. Krotkov /
The name of the exhibition is “CUBOFUTURISM. BACK TO THE FUTURE ”reflects the author’s desire, relying on the world outlook of the Russian avant-garde school, to build an active dialogue with modernity by means of painting and to feel the vector of movement into the future.
The exhibition will feature more than 50 works - the result of the artist’s five-year creative work.
The exhibition runs until April 12, 2016
Curator of the exhibition ELENA PETROVA
