Hedgehog in the fog automatic translate
The animated film «The Hedgehog in the Fog» by Yuri Norshtein was released by the Soyuzmultfilm studio in 1975 and forever divided the world into two halves - those who see it as something more than a children’s fairy tale, and those who do not see it for the most part nothing.
The cartoon received many international awards, and in 2003 it was recognized as the best in its history. But how many of us wondered - for what?
We all like to watch cartoons , they entertain us, return to the warm, carefree world of childhood. Can I say this about the cartoon «The Hedgehog in the Fog»? Probably, not.
No one argues with the fact that the cartoon is actually a philosophical parable about finding oneself, finding the absolute, transcending the transition from the living world to the world of the dead and back, about the journey that one of us will one day make. But in what artistic ways did the author manage to achieve such an extraordinary depth of a simple, at first glance, plot? How did the artist manage to convey the crystal clearness of the basic human emotions - joy, fear, despair? Of course, a great influence on the viewer is provided by musical accompaniment, but the main thing, all the same, remains the artistic range of the cartoon.
The main artistic method for creating a video sequence is the absence of precise contours and some primitivism of the image. Imperfection of form implies an additional depth of content. At the same time, images seem to merge with each other, clear edges are blurred, forming a single special world that does not at all resemble the habitual reality. The fog is both a place of action and a separate acting character, giving the picture a volume and meaning that it would be impossible to achieve in other ways in this context. Perhaps this fog was the first special effect in the history of Soviet animation. The author himself in one of his interviews said that the absence of modern technical means in the arsenal of the artist makes fantasy work, which, of course, leads to the creation of special, not at all unlike artistic worlds.
