At the apex of the canvas, a winged female form descends, draped in flowing white robes that billow outwards, creating a sense of movement and grandeur. She holds aloft what appears to be a scythe, an emblem often associated with Time or Death, yet her expression seems benevolent rather than menacing. This figure’s descent is framed by swirling clouds and a dramatic sky, suggesting a momentous arrival.
Below this celestial presence sits a woman, bathed in a soft, diffused light. She is the focal point of the scene, and her gesture – extending her hand towards a man standing before her – is crucial to understanding the narrative. The man appears to be receiving some form of illumination or knowledge from her touch. He is dressed in simple attire, contrasting with the elaborate drapery of other figures present.
Flanking this central pair are numerous personifications of abstract ideas. To the left stands a figure holding scales, likely representing Justice or Balance.
