Description of Ivan Shishkin’s painting "Spring in the Woods".
Ivan Shishkin is one of the most famous Russian artists. He painted pictures, made prints, and was fond of sketches. He was especially good at landscapes. As a child, the boy discovered a talent for portraying nature with remarkable accuracy.
Shishkin later enrolled in high school, but after several years, quit. Then he decided to study at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. It was this institution that he eventually graduated from with great success.
It should be noted that the artist was not just talented in depicting the nature of Russia. He was a true specialist in botany. Every blade of grass, every flower, he drew with knowledge. Trees and bushes in his paintings changed their appearance depending on the type of soil. The image of brushwood, dead wood, swamps and marshes turned out on the paintings extremely realistic
In 1892, Ivan Shishkin finished his work on the painting "Spring", depicting the source in a mixed forest. The final size of the picture was thirty-eight by fifty-six centimeters. The work was inspired by grim events - the artist’s wife died suddenly. In an attempt to hide from the grief Shishkin decides to start a new work.
The painting reflects the sunny summer time. The daytime stuffiness gradually gives way to a fresh evening. The composition is impeccably built. There is a pile of deadwood in the foreground and a spruce behind. To the right are two birch trees, drawn with great love. The landscape is perfect for giving the eye a break from the dirt and bustle.
