Below the mountain range, a series of undulating hills stretches across the middle ground. The artist employed a palette of browns and ochres for these forms, creating a sense of depth and recession. These hills are also rendered in a stylized manner, with their contours defined by clean lines and flat planes. A distinct horizontal band separates them from the foreground.
In the lower portion of the painting, several bodies of water – small pools or lakes – are visible. Their surfaces reflect the sky above, appearing as patches of blue within the predominantly earthy tones. These water features contribute to a sense of tranquility and stillness.
The overall effect is one of deliberate abstraction. The artist seems less concerned with representing the landscape accurately than with conveying its essence through simplified forms and a restricted color palette. This approach lends the scene an almost dreamlike quality, suggesting a place that exists more in the realm of memory or imagination than in physical reality.
Subtly, theres a sense of isolation conveyed by the lack of human presence and the vastness of the landscape. The rigid geometry and flattened perspective contribute to this feeling, creating a space that is both imposing and strangely impersonal. The painting evokes contemplation rather than immediate emotional response; it invites the viewer to consider the relationship between humanity and nature, and the power of abstraction to transform our perception of reality.
