The landscape surrounding this settlement is characterized by rolling hills, also executed in shades of blue and purple. A pale orange band delineates the horizon line, providing a subtle contrast to the cooler tones below. Above, the sky appears as a gradient transitioning from a lighter hue near the horizon to a deeper shade towards the top edge of the frame.
The limited color range contributes to an overall dreamlike or fantastical quality. The absence of naturalistic details and the stylized representation of both architecture and landscape suggest a symbolic rather than literal depiction. One might interpret the repeated, rounded forms as representing cycles, growth, or perhaps even the passage of time. The town itself could symbolize human endeavor, resilience, or the enduring nature of culture within a vast and somewhat indifferent environment.
The dark borders surrounding the image further isolate the scene, intensifying its sense of otherness and inviting contemplation on its meaning. It is possible to read this as an exploration of memory, myth, or the construction of idealized landscapes.
