This is a beautifully illustrated, early map of the world, likely from the 18th century, titled A New & Correct Map of the World. The map is presented in a double-hemisphere projection, with the Western Hemisphere on the left and the Eastern Hemisphere on the right. The continents are carefully delineated and colored, with landmasses like North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa clearly visible. Oceans are labeled, including the Pacific Ocean, Great South Sea or Mar del Zur, The Western or Atlantic Ocean, and The Eastern Ocean.
The map is framed by an ornate golden border adorned with decorative scrollwork and foliage. Surrounding the central map are several oval cartouches, each containing text, likely annotations, geographical descriptions, or historical notes related to the depicted regions. The cartouches are colored in soft pastel shades of pink, yellow, and green, adding to the maps visual appeal.
