The religious theme is one of the many motifs of the great Russian painter V. Vasnetsov. The painting "The Joy of the Righteous about the Lord" - is the clearest example of the great talent of the master of the brush. His wall paintings dedicated to the 900th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia, in the Vladimir Cathedral - is, in the words of the artist himself, "the way to the light", to which he gave more than a dozen years of his life.

Description of Victor Vasnetsov’s painting The Joy of the Righteous about the Lord
The religious theme is one of the many motifs of the great Russian painter V. Vasnetsov. The painting "The Joy of the Righteous about the Lord" - is the clearest example of the great talent of the master of the brush. His wall paintings dedicated to the 900th anniversary of the Baptism of Russia, in the Vladimir Cathedral - is, in the words of the artist himself, "the way to the light", to which he gave more than a dozen years of his life. Famous painter Vasnetsov was the author of about 400 drawings, and in total covered with pictorial frescoes about 2 thousand square meters of the cathedral. Icon painting was a true source of inspiration for Vasnetsov.
The magnificent fresco Joy of the Righteous about the Lord - is a truly spiritual pictorial masterpiece that burst forth to the amazement, inspiration and joy of the audience. This enormous canvas painted in a variety of colors, including watercolor, gouache, as well as ink, with whitewashing and bronze gilding, filled part of the main dome of St. Vladimir’s Church. The multimeter and pompous sketch, executed in color, is the cathedral’s ornamentation.
This amazing composition harmoniously combines three parts of the triptych: the left and the right are titled "The Joy of the Righteous about the Lord. The Entrance of Paradise", while in the center rises the painting "The Triumph of the Angels". It is simply impossible to describe in words what the artist has depicted. It’s amazing faces of the saints and faces of sinful people who are watching with delight the triumph of the Angels. The artist very subtly portrayed the confusion in the eyes of the characters. Everything is in a state of flux: flying and swirling. Here the artist showed another feature of his writing - the ability to combine canonical severity with lyricism and picturesqueness.
Unique canvas "Joy of the righteous about the Lord" gives full right to attribute the artist Vasnetsov to religious painters.
