моя любимая картина!
бальшая хата
Жаль что сейчас таких уже не строят. А ведь неплохая идея
Peter, as always, takes a standard plot and depicts his attitude towards it, which is far from a slavish illustration of the original source. Here he shows:
1. The Tower is a symbol of humanity united in harmony with nature, building itself. The tower rests on a rock that passes through it. Thus, humanity is one with the earth on which it works and builds itself, and also lives in the Tower. The Tower (united humanity) is extremely beautiful. Those who doubt its beauty should see the original in Venice.
2. The biblical God destroyed this harmony by dividing united humanity into parts with different languages. As a result of the division of languages, people began to misunderstand each other, leading to various troubles, such as wars, which stem partly from the concept of us versus them.
3. Humanity does not need power. We notice that the symbol of united humanity – the Tower – is being built without any leadership; no leader is visible anywhere. There are also no armed people on the Tower. Humanity does not need all this. Armed people surround only power. Only it needs violence, and it exists only through violence. Conclusions: the biblical God and power are enemies of humanity. This is the essence of this beautiful work.

Below this monumental undertaking, a multitude of figures are engaged in various tasks related to its construction. They appear as tiny specks within the vastness of the scene, their individual identities lost within the collective effort. The artist has rendered them with meticulous detail, yet they lack any sense of heroic grandeur; instead, they seem absorbed in repetitive labor, suggesting a loss of individuality and purpose within this grand project.
The landscape itself is meticulously observed. A river winds through the terrain, reflecting the sky above. Distant hills fade into a hazy atmosphere, creating a sense of depth and vastness. The vegetation is rendered with careful attention to detail, contributing to the overall realism of the scene. However, the natural world seems subservient to the artificial structure that dominates it.
Subtleties within the painting suggest deeper meanings. The unfinished state of certain sections of the tower implies a sense of incompleteness and potential failure. The varied architectural styles might symbolize humanity’s hubris – an attempt to synthesize disparate elements into a unified, albeit flawed, whole. The scattering of figures suggests disorganization and lack of coordination within the project.
There is a palpable tension between aspiration and limitation. While the tower represents human ambition and ingenuity, its chaotic construction and diminutive laborers hint at the inherent limitations of such endeavors. The overall impression is one of both awe-inspiring scale and underlying fragility – a testament to the potential for human endeavor to reach great heights while simultaneously revealing its vulnerabilities.
