The imagery itself is highly symbolic and seemingly nonsensical at first glance, yet reveals a recurring motif of animals engaged in peculiar or violent actions. On the left panel, we see a building facade above what appears to be a pool of red liquid. Below this, a creature resembling a bird or reptile attacks another figure with a weapon that could be interpreted as a sword or spear. The central panel features a cat holding scissors and standing over a pool of red, while on its right, a feline is depicted wielding a knife against an indistinct form. The final panel shows a dog poised above a similar pool of red, seemingly about to strike.
The use of the red pools throughout the composition immediately draws attention and functions as a visual anchor. Their ambiguous nature – are they blood, paint, or something else entirely? – introduces an element of unsettling mystery. The animals are rendered in a simplified, almost childlike style, which paradoxically amplifies the disturbing nature of their actions. This stylistic choice prevents any easy emotional connection with the depicted creatures and instead fosters a sense of detachment and unease.
The arrangement into three distinct panels suggests a narrative progression or perhaps a cyclical theme. It is possible to interpret this as an exploration of aggression, violence, or primal instincts, presented through a distorted lens of symbolic representation. The lack of context surrounding these events leaves room for multiple interpretations, inviting the viewer to construct their own meaning from the fragmented imagery. The overall effect is one of unsettling playfulness, where familiar forms are twisted into something strange and potentially threatening.
