This is a vertical panel painting, the right wing of a triptych, titled The Adoration of the Magi, right wing - St Agnes with the Donor.
Foreground:In the lower part of the image, two figures are depicted. The figure on the left, kneeling, is likely the donor, a woman dressed in a black gown with a white headdress. She is shown in a reverent pose, with her hands clasped. To her right stands Saint Agnes, identified by the lamb depicted behind her. Agnes is taller and wears a rich, flowing pink robe. She holds a book or tablet, and her gaze is directed forward. A small shield with a fleur-de-lis is visible on the right side, near their figures.
Midground:The middle ground opens up into a rolling, pastoral landscape. A winding path meanders through the scene. On the path, a figure in blue is seen from behind, walking away. Further down the path, near a small building or stable, a figure is hunched over, possibly resting or tending to something. A white lamb, a symbol of Saint Agnes, is visible on the left, near a rough stone structure. Scattered trees and undulations in the land create depth.
Background:The background recedes into a vast, hazy landscape with a body of water, possibly a river or a lake, reflecting the sky. On the far shore of the water, a city with buildings and spires is depicted. The sky transitions from a pale yellow near the horizon to a soft blue overhead, with some clouds suggested. The upper left corner of the painting is a stark black void, indicating where it might have been cut or framed.
