The infant, also encircled by a halo, appears to be gesturing upwards with his right hand, potentially indicating a blessing or pointing toward a higher power. His nudity is presented without any sense of impropriety; rather, it emphasizes his innocence and vulnerability. The woman’s garments are rich in color – deep blues and reds – and appear draped over an elaborate chair with ornate armrests. The folds of the fabric contribute to the overall impression of regal dignity.
The artists use of light is significant. It illuminates the faces of both figures, drawing attention to their expressions and highlighting their features. A subtle modeling technique gives volume and depth to their forms, while the gold background creates a luminous effect that enhances the spiritual atmosphere.
